Coronation Memories

Do you remember the Coronation? Most people had no television and I stood outside the garage in Frome Valley Road and watched the procession on a tiny television - no sound. Then we had a street party with the children in fancy dress. I went as Queen Elizabeth 1st and my brother went as King Farouk (he was constantly in the news at that time).

The Museum is collecting an archive of local memories and we would like your contribution. This can be just a few sentences or longer recollections. If you have any pictures, that would be even better. Just send your memories to frenchaymuseum@hotmail.com or hand them into the museum. Through the summer we hope to collect memories either about the Coronation or memories of Frenchay in the 1950s. We will have an Exhibition of Coronation memorabilia in the museum and would love to include your memories.
